Berrys has improved their bullets with a new HP design

For those that load their own, Berrys has been known for good quality plated projectiles as well as many other accessories.

This year Berrys’ has improved their bullets with the Hybrid Hollow Point. While this does add an additional operation to the production process it produces a much more effective hollow point than their old design. This change was more than a year in the making from the start of the concept to when the machinery was finally in place for production

The initial offerings will be the 45ACP projectile in 185, 200 and 230 grain weights.

The improved design will continue to roll out with the 40/10MM being next followed by the 9MM family of HPs.

Impact Sport electronic hearing protectors are now available in additional colors

A couple of years ago, the good folks from Howard Leight introduced some new electronic hearing protectors that were very reasonably priced based on their exceptional performance.

The Impact Pro and Impact Sport.

The Impact Sport is a thin profile hearing protector that can be folded upon itself and placed in a small pocket of a range bag. It’s small profile is great for use with long guns.

This year the Impact Sport is being offered in additional colors. Camouflage which used to be a Cabella’s exclusive is now available through all sources and teal was added

P320 – A new modular pistol from SIG Sauer

The P320 is a nice pistol. The trigger and reset are superior to the P250s that I have shot in the past. It felt good in my hand. I do look forward to shooting it

One difference to note is that the P230 is not offered in 45ACP. Only 9MM, 357SIG and 40S&W

For those that would like it, here is a link to the P320 brochure:

SIG SAUER at the 2014 SHOT Show

SIG had a wonderful large booth as always. Plenty of products to look at and handle. I was a bit disappointed when I learned that SIG was not participating in Media Day at the Range but having a separate range session somewhere else. I had looked forward to shooting the new P320

I am also providing a link to the 2014 SIG catalog for those that would like it.

A 9 ounce 38 Special revolver – Introducing The VIEW – from Taurus

Taurus has introduced what appears to be the lightest weight pocket revolver on the market.

Coming in at under 9 ounces, the VIEW is chambered for 5 rounds of 38 special. Weight is reduced by using a aluminum frame, titanium cylinder and a titanium barrel shroud w/steel sleeve, reduced grip frame.

You may notice the little short barrel just about 1″ in length until your eyes are drawn to the clear side plate. This is where the name VIEW comes from. While there have been other clear side plates over the years, they have been for display only. The VIEW is fully functional with it’s clear side plate.

One thing which is not very noticeable in photographs is that the grip frame has a curve to the right allowing it to fit the hand a bit differently than a traditional grip design. That also make it easier to conceal since the butt is curved into the body.

On the down side, this is a drawback for lefties.

Taurus indicated that they were contemplating a left handed model. Since this requires a different frame, I suggested that they also make the cylinder open on the opposite side.
